Their battle is prodigious and a number of facts about Zansa's motivation are learned from his flashbacks during the fight. Ultimately, Kenshin prevails as Zansa uses a sword that is large and powerful, but slow enough for Kenshin to avoid. Later, an old rival of Kenshin's, a murderer named Jin-eh, who challenges Kenshin to a fight, and uses a number of underhanded tricks to ensure his victory.
